I made this dip for a Christmas Eve get-together that our family goes to every year, and it was a hit! Actually, every time I’ve made it, it has been very well received. This is such an easy and delicious dip to make for any occasion and can be made a day in advance of eating.
Caramelized Onion Dip
2 sweet onions such as Vidalia or Texas Sweet
1-cup sour cream
½ cup buttermilk
3 sprigs fresh thyme
Directions
- Half each onion and then slice.
- Heat over medium heat with a little olive oil and the thyme until soft, super fragrant and a deep amber color.
- Let onions cool for 30 minutes. Then combine with sour cream and buttermilk in food processor until combined.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so flavors can develop.
